Adblock Plus, created by Wladimir Palant, is an ad & content blocking and/or hiding program designed to remove unwanted internet items from ever making it to your computer ... or your eyes! It is made mainly for the Mozilla Firefox and Seamonkey web browsers. Internet Explorer is not supported by Adblock Plus.
Adblock Plus, is the #1 "Most Popular" add-on for the Firefox & Seamonkey Web Browsers (average over the last year on the Mozilla Add-on site), and made PC World's "Top 100 Products of 2007" list of innovations.

Three Different Filter Subscriptions for Adblock Plus for Three Different Reasons
Add one, two, or all three different 'Rick752' subscriptions to Adblock Plus and get rid of ads and other nasty web annoyances that rob your time & bandwidth and try to spy on you.
The 3 EasyList subscriptions:
- The EasyList (items never downloaded):
The EasyList is the "main" subscription. It blocks image ads, flash ads, script ads ... and also (by default) it will block many cookies, trackers, & spyware issues associated with those same blocked sites. All the filters in this subscription 'block' the ads from being downloaded at all. The EasyList should be added before using either of the other two 'optional' subscriptions.
- The EasyElement (downloaded but hidden):
The EasyElement is a subscription that is used to clean up html-embedded text advertising (except for Google Adsense which is blocked in the EasyList). It is also used to clean up any certain spaces that may be left over from regular adblocking (like from the EasyList).
- The Tracking Filter (blocks tracking) :
Help protect your privacy with the Tracking Filter subscription. The Tracking Filter blocks many different types of tracking, web bugs, and marketing-analysis strings.

In onder to use Adblock Plus, you need to be using a Mozilla web browser like Firefox (IE is not supported)
Next you need to install the Adblock Plus extension here.
These are the 3 main EasyList subscriptions. The EasyList is necessary .... the others can be added per taste.
Just click: "Add to ABP" .... "OK" ... and its in!

The following subscriptions are my EasyList recommended 'supplemental' subscriptions for language/country/specialty additions. Only subscriptions that do not duplicate the global features of the 3 EasyList subscriptions and have written good filtering are listed. These are created & maintained by other filter makers and contain mainly the filtering in its claim. I consider the following 'good' subscription additions to the EasyList. The "verified" subscriptions follow this rule and are also made specifically to complement the EasyList by the author's claim and also mine. These are highly recommended by myself. The rest I recommend to make a nice complement to the EasyList, but the author has not verified to be a supplement of the EasyList.
.... and I definitely won't consider anyone's subscription that has mostly just copied the EasyList rules ... or anyone else's rules either!

On a side note:
If for some reason you don't like the EasyList or just want to add more blocking power with other general subscriptions, I would recommend Cedric's Liste or Fanboy's List as an alternative or an addition to the EasyList. Both are active members of both the EasyList Forum and the Adblock Plus Forum. We work together a lot on many adblocking probles & solutions and share ideas. The people are my friends and 'partners'. I must warn you though that using multiple "general" subscriptions will duplicate many filter strings and slow Adblock Plus down ... they will tell you the same.

Here we find a classic example of totally annoying advertising.
First, you've got the big, bright and 'annoyingly animated' top flash ad that pretty much steals 1/4 of your top-viewable screen space. Add to that, the even more annoying flash ad in the left column that masquerades itself as a 'mini-game' when actually it is just a link to a site selling ringtones (I thought that this annoying scumbag tactic went away ... obviously not).
Trying to read the page's content now becomes very difficult as these ads are trying to distract you from what you are trying to do there (remember that these ads are dancing, flashing, sliding, and moving all the time). It's amazing that you can even concentrate on the page's content at all!

What Adblock Plus and the "ad-blocking" EasyList subscription will do:
Here is the same page using Adblock Plus with the EasyList subscription filter. This filter blocks image, script, and flash type ads quickly from the page at the source. These ads are never downloaded with the EasyList so the page downloads much quicker and saves you bandwidth. Blocking these allows you an undistracted view of your content. The page becomes much more tolerable viewing it.

Cleaning up even more with the supplementary EasyElement "element-hiding" subscription:
This is the same page (again) after adding the EasyElement subscription. The EasyElement cleans up leftover spaces left by the EasyList Subscription. It also will remove text ads and some other nuisances on many major websites. Notice that the top bar is even tighter than it was ... and the black box left over from removing the flash ad in the left column is gone now. It "tightens up" the page to make it more easy to view and read.
Unlike the Easylist, this subscription only hides the elements ... they are still downloaded. The EasyElement ismainly for visual effectiveness.
Now scroll back and look at the first picture again ..... and ask yourself why you have to deal with this crap when you don't have to!??

The EasyList is a "Suggested Subscription" that can be instantly installed & activated during Adblock Plus's initial installation ... but I would just CANCEL this and come back here to install subscriptions.
