EasyElement ... the element hiding filter
The "EasyElement" filter is a supplemental subscription filter to compliment the main "Adblock EasyList" filter.
It's purpose is to kill those "sponsored" text ads and some chunks of space left over from the main graphic filter.
The "EasyElement" will only work correctly with Adblock Plus 0.7.
This filter will obviously work the best with my regular Adblock EasyList filter ... both can now easily co-exist together in the new Adblock Plus 0.7. It is a supplementary filter made to "clean up" leftover junk and text ads by blocking the html elements themselves. The list keeps growing everyday. Elements are much harder to pin down than regular image/scripting ads and must be much more specific as to not create false positives (mistakes) .... so it will take a lot of searching, time & testing.
A lot of people have been using it, and so far no complaints. Makes a lot of sites look way better than any regular adblocking can make them look.
This is what the "EasyElement" filter will do:
Below is Fox News with no Adblock at all
Many ads ... I don't know how anyone can look at this stuff ... yuk!
Below is Fox News with Adblock using my Adblock EasyList filter:
Ads are gone ... big spaces and advertisement text remains
Below is Fox News with my Adblock EasyList AND my EasyElement filter:
Spaces and advertisement text is gone ... page compacted .... looks great! :-)
I have added some "generic" strings to the list that I feel are pretty safe (so far). Outside of those , the "EasyElement" is in alphabetical order by URL.
Feel free to add sites that need repair on the RichSterling.com forum (I would appreciate ONLY users of my EasyList suggest sites). Both of my filters mainly concentrate on the English-speaking, US/Canadian markets.
